Card details & story
Introduction
Dark Gengar gives the Neo era's Light-and-Dark theme a distinctly ghostly expression. Its Deep Sleep power and Pull In attack distinguish it from the earlier Fossil-era Gengar. This is the Japanese Darkness, and to Light… printing, identified by No. 094, with the original Pocket Monsters card back. The illustration is credited to Aya Kusube, with the condition of this individual copy detailed below.

About the Pokémon
Gengar is the Shadow Pokémon, recorded as No. 094 in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation I, associated with the Kanto generation of games. Its folklore describes frightening people by impersonating their shadows. It evolves from Haunter. Its species identity is shared across its different TCG appearances.
About the Expansion
Darkness, and to Light… arrived in Japan on 20 April 2001 as the fourth Neo expansion. Its contrast between Light and Dark Pokémon gave familiar species distinct identities, alongside the set's Shining cards. This Japanese release still belongs to the original Pocket Monsters card-back era, before the change introduced with VS.
Artwork & Collector's Notes
Aya Kusube is credited for this Darkness, and to Light… illustration of Dark Gengar. The holofoil finish, original Pocket Monsters reverse and Japanese text identify this printing. The No. 094 identifier is a Pokédex number, not an English set checklist position.
