About the Pokémon
Pidgeotto is the Bird Pokémon, recorded as No. 017 in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation I, associated with the Kanto generation of games. It fiercely defends a wide territory against intruders. It evolves from Pidgey. Its species identity is shared across its different TCG appearances.
About the Expansion
Released in Japan on 20 October 1996, Expansion Pack established the Pokémon Trading Card Game alongside its starter product. Its Kanto Pokémon, Trainer cards and Energy cards introduced the game's foundational structure. The original Japanese Pocket Monsters card back places these cards at the beginning of the TCG's collecting history.
Artwork & Collector's Notes
Ken Sugimori is credited for this Expansion Pack illustration of Pidgeotto. The non-holo finish, original Pocket Monsters reverse and Japanese text identify this printing. The No. 017 identifier is a Pokédex number, not an English set checklist position.
